Cape Town Don't Tell

The following article appears in the book
‘Cape Town Don’t Tell’
(2003 Struik Publishers) by Sam Woolidge and Sheryl
Ozinsky:
A massage is always good ; it relaxes you,
it feels great and you can justify
the expense and time by thinking of its potential health
benefits. But don’t go mistaking one massage for another.
There’s a world of difference and Ka huna massage may well
be the ultimate – think blissful island luxury
indulgence
as opposed to a package holiday.
Louise Kleu is a Ka huna Bodywork Therapist
and specialises in what she calls Transformational
Massage.
Originating in Polynesia, Ka huna is a
complete healing system aimed at restoring balance and harmony to
body, mind and spirit.
A Ka huna treatment overwhelms the mind with
sensation as the practitioner
uses intuitive movements, loud breathing and rhythm.
With the use of hands and arms in dance-like
movements that mirror the ebb
and flow of the ocean, it can, at times, almost be described as
an energetic
massage. But this does not fully convey the entire
experience.
To Louise, music is an integral part of the
treatment but, if you’re thinking
whale music and baroque, you’re way off track.
For an hour and a half, Louise focuses all
her energy on her client; it is an intensely emotional experience
that involves a certain degree of trust between practitioner
and client. It is here that Louise’s gentleness and honesty
come to the fore,
putting you completely at ease. In a warm, candle-lit healing
room surrounded
by music, she approaches her work with an open heart and believes
‘ in the
individual’s potential to transform and create the life
they want
and to make a positive difference in the
world.’
